RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the 100% Civil, 100% Structural and 80% Electrical Plans and specifications for Phase 1 of the CityBus Electrification Infrastructure project and authorize staff to publish a notice inviting bids.


BACKGROUND

On September 20, 2021, City Council adopted, by resolution, the Culver City Battery Electric Bus Transportation Facility Electrification Transition Plan ("Plan"). The Plan outlines the roadmap that will guide the Culver City Transportation Department in implementing a 100% zero-emission fleet by 2028. The Plan outlines the facility and infrastructure improvements, as well as the total cost of investment for transitioning to an all-electric fleet.

The infrastructure deployment has been broken into five separate phases, the largest part being a design of a gantry over the entire yard with an advanced pulley system that will allow the charging dispensers to be pulled from overhead for 45 buses. The first two phases of this project, scheduled to commence in Spring 2023, are as follows:
