RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve a purchase order with Stryker for the purchase of 26 automated chest compression devices for seven regional fire departments, including Culver City Fire Department (CCFD), in an amount not-to-exceed $683,802.51.


BACKGROUND

On July 12, 2021 City Council approved a regional application for grant funds in the amount of $960,633.18 for FY 2021 Los Angeles County Measure B Funding. Measure B is a special property assessment that was passed by the voters of Los Angeles County on November 5, 2002 to provide funding for the Countywide System of Trauma Centers, Emergency Medical Services, and Bioterrorism Response.

On July 15, 2021, CCFD, on behalf of six additional area fire departments (Burbank, Pasadena, Long Beach, Santa Monica, Montebello, and Monrovia) submitted an application and presentation to the County for 39 automated chest compression devices.

On February 7, 2022, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved CCFD's proposal in part to purchase 26 automated chest compression devices for an amount up to $683,803; the Memorandum of Agreement between the County and the City was finalized on June 7, 2022.

CCFD will retain three of the devices and disburse the others to six regional fire departments as follows:
