RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for the Construction of a Changeable Message Sign (CMS) and Traffic Signal Battery Backup Systems (BBS) on Sepulveda Boulevard between Sawtelle Boulevard and Centinela Avenue, Project No. PZ-429.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the surrounding cities face difficult transportation-related challenges today and in the coming years with the shifting of traffic due to the construction of new City of Inglewood sports arenas and the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Landside Access and Modernization Program (LAMP) scheduled to be completed in 2022. LAMP aims to relieve congestion for airport patrons and others who are using the local transportation systems.
