RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss and receive public input regarding potential use of City property located at 10858 Culver Boulevard (Property); and (2) provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Since the late 1970s, the Property has been used by various organizations that offered services to veterans. Over the years the Property was poorly maintained and fell into disrepair. Some of the Property's deficiencies are life safety related and others are structural. As a result, the Property was vacated in November 2018.

On July 8, 2019 the City Council received a report on the status of the Property and identified five potential uses for the Property including (1) affordable housing for artists (2) modular affordable housing; (3) a multi-use facility created by combining parcels to the west; (4) a community center operated by the Wende Museum; and (5) a center for veteran services ...
