RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission receive and file the report regarding the California Association of Park and Recreation Commissioners and Board Members.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commissioner Kay Heineman invited Santa Monica Recreation and Parks Commissioner Phil Brock to give the PRCS Commission some information about the California Association of Parks and Recreation Commissioners and Board Members and to share his experiences of being a long-standing Member and past President of the Board of Directors of the organization.
Santa Monica Recreation and Parks Commissioner Phil Brock
Phil Brock is a life-long Santa Monica resident, business owner and park supporter who was first appointed to the Santa Monica Recreation and Parks Commission in October 2003. He was elected Vice Chair in 2010 and became Chair in 2011.
During his tenure, the Santa Monica Recreation and Parks Commission has overseen a great expansion of the city park system.
