RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve three-year professional services agreements with two optional one-year extensions in an annual not-to-exceed amount of $8,000 ($40,000 over a five-year period) for geotechnical plan check services with each of the following consulting firms: (1) Global Geo-Engineering, Inc.; and (2) California Testing & Inspections.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Pursuant to Resolution No. 2006-R037, Culver City's hillside review policy requires specific additional measures for any significant foundation work proposed on Culver City hillsides including the following:

1. The permit applicant must obtain a geotechnical report.
2. The permit applicant's geotechnical engineer shall be state licensed.
3. The permit applicant's geotechnical engineer shall review and approve the applicant's
architectural and structural drawings.
4. The permit applicant's geotechnical engineer shall inspect and approve the foundation forms and reinforcement.
5. The permit applicant's geotechnical engineer shall inspect and approve the final site grading.
