RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council:
1. Award a contract to Sully-Miller Contracting Company as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, for the 2017 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, PS-005 and Culver West Alexander Park Paddles Tennis Court Reconstruction PZ-835 in the amount of $2,062,000 ($1,957,681+$104,319); and,
2. Authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer to increase the construction contract with Sully-Miller Contracting Company in an amount not to exceed $489,420 (25% of base bid) for additional street resurfacing work.
BACKGROUND
Per recommendations in the pavement management system and visual observation, several streets have been selected to be resurfaced with new asphalt. The scope of work consists of removing and replacing 1.5 ~2 inches of deteriorated asphalt concrete with new rubberized asphalt concrete. Damaged curb and gutter will be replaced where necessary. The following arterial and residential streets are scheduled for resurfacing:
1. Jefferson Blvd. - Kinston Ave. to Sepulveda Blvd.
2. Sepulveda Blvd. - Centinela Blvd. to Green Valley Circle
3. Sepulveda Blvd. -Venice Blvd. to Washington Blvd. (localized repairs only)
