RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council and the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission (PRCSC) discuss the initial recommendations from the PRCSC to the City Council for the Fiscal Year 2017/2018 Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department Budget.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Beginning in Fiscal Year 2014/2015, the City Council instituted an enhanced budget process. This process provides additional opportunities for the public to provide input into the budget document. Further, the City Council now specifically invites members of the City's Commissions, Committees, and Boards to provide comments during the City's budget process. This marks the third year that the PRCSC has provided formal budget recommendations to the City Council.
The PRCSC's budget recommendations are usually crafted over two or three public meetings. First, the topic is introduced; then, the first draft of the correspondence to the City Council is submitted for review by the full Commission; finally, the correspondence is approved and submitted to the PRCSC Director, who then submit...
