RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) receive and file the report regarding the Culver City Age-Friendly Action Plan.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

As a member of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, the City of Culver City has made an ongoing commitment to be a livable community for people of all ages and abilities. The driving force behind this commitment has been the Age-Friendly Action Plan initiative, which began in 2019. As part of the initiative, the City conducted a community-wide survey and two community listening sessions, using the results to inform the development of the action plan.

The action plan focuses on eight domains: outdoor spaces and buildings; transportation; housing; social participation; respect and social cohesion; civic participation and employment; communication and information; and community support and health services. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the development of the action plan, as well as the implementation phase, was postponed. As of the writing of this report, the City has tentative plans to resume the development and implementation phases in April 2024.
