RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve a purchase order with Stryker for the purchase of four automated chest compression devices, in an amount not-to-exceed $107,530.00.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On December 16, 2021, Culver City Fire Department (CCFD) staff applied for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), which included the request for four automated chest compression devices and several lengths of fire hose. On February 6, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security approved CCFD's application. On February 27, 2023, City Council accepted the 2021 AFG Program Funds awarded to the City in the amount of $132,522.72 and approved a budget amendment to appropriate the grant funds.

In accordance with City purchasing procedures, staff is seeking City Council approval for the purchase order of four automated chest compression devices. This procurement is exempt from formal bidding procedures per Culver City Municipal Code (CCMC) Section 3.07.055.B, which exempts bidding requirements when the equipment is a component for equipment or a system of equipment previously acquired by the City, and is necessary to repair, maintain or improve the City's utilization of the equipment.
