RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Cultural Affairs Commission select, by majority vote, a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson to serve in that capacity until the next reorganization in July 2024 or thereafter.
BACKGROUND & PROCEDURE
At the special meeting on June 21, 2023, the City Council considered three (3) eligible applications for the Cultural Affairs Commission and interviewed the two (2) candidates in attendance at that meeting.
At the following regular meeting of the City Council on June 26, 2023, Tania Fleischer was reappointed as Commissioner to Seat 4 for a Second Term (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2027). Ms. Fleischer’s initial service was a partial term (2017-2019), and the City Clerk confirmed eligibility for this four-year second term. As a returning Commissioner, Ms. Fleischer has previously taken the Oath of Office.
Chair Fleischer shall preside over the meeting and take nominations for the selection of a new Chair and Vice Chair for Fiscal Year 2023 - 2024. The newly selected Chair shall preside over the meeting upon the conclusion of this agenda item.
