RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council: (1) create a City Council Ad Hoc General Plan Subcommittee; and (2) appoint two City Council Members thereto.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
At the regular City Council meeting on May 15, 2023, Council Member Eriksson received a majority consensus of the City Council to agendize the consideration of the formation of an ad hoc subcommittee to advise staff on the proposed General Plan Update.
The City’s Advance Planning Division initiated a comprehensive update to the General Plan in 2019. If created, the Ad Hoc General Plan Subcommittee would provide guidance to staff for the draft General Plan (anticipated for release in late Summer 2023) and the subsequent final General Plan (anticipated in early 2024).
Community input and outreach for the final draft General Plan will begin in Fall 2023. The General Plan will be presented to the Planning Commission for a recommendation to City Council, and City Council will be the deciding body.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
There is no direct fiscal impact from creating the proposed Ad Hoc General Plan Subcommittee.
