BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Public Works Mobility and Traffic Engineering Staff will provide an update regarding the Safe Routes to School Signing and Striping Project, which features installation of pedestrian and bicycle enhancements in the areas around El Marino Elementary School, El Rincon Elementary School, and the Tri-School Complex (Culver City High School, Culver City Middle School, and Farragut Elementary School). Staff will also report on community input received at the Safe Routes to School Signing and Striping Project Community Meeting to be held on April 18, 2023.

The Safe Routes to School Signing and Striping Project locations proposed are in accordance with Culver City’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Action Plan approved by City Council in June 2020 and will improve safety for all road users and include improvements such as:

                     High-visibility crosswalks

                     Class II Bicycle Lanes

Shared Lane Markings on Class III Bike Routes

Public Works Mobility and Traffic Engineering Staff will also provide a project update regarding the redesign of the intersection of Ince Blvd and Lucerne Ave using temporary devices and pavement marking enhancements.
