RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC): 1) receive a report from the Seniors Event Ad Hoc Subcommittee about the all-ages event on ageism, 2) determine next steps, and 3) provide direction to staff as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
One of the events for the approved EHRAC Workplan for FY 22-23 includes an event focusing on and honoring seniors. A Seniors Event Ad Hoc Subcommittee was created in October 2022 to carry out the research and planning. After revisiting the event topic, the Subcommittee decided to create an all-ages event about ageism, which is in greater alignment with the committee's workplan.
At the January 24, 2023, regular meeting, the committee achieved consensus to agendize this item for discussion. At the March 28, 2023, meeting, the committee will receive a report from the Subcommittee about the event, the topic of ageism, and the next steps for planning.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There are no costs associated with discussion of this item.
