RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Fiesta La Ballona Committee elect the Chair and Vice Chair of the Fiesta La Ballona Committee.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Per the Fiesta La Ballona Committee (FLBC) Bylaws, at the December meeting of the FLBC, the FLBC selects a Chair and Vice Chair or when there is a vacancy. The FLBC does not have a formal policy for the selection of the Chair and Vice Chair. Traditionally, the Vice Chair becomes the Chair and the Member with the most seniority becomes the Vice Chair. Currently, the Chair and Vice Chair positions are vacant. The selection of Chair and Vice Chair is always at the discretion of the Committee Members.
Below is each Commission Member’s seat number with their associated term:
Seat Number 1: Nancy Trujillo - First full-term expires on October 31, 2025.
Seat Number 2: Open Seat - Term expires on October 31, 2025.
Seat Number 3: Lila Swenson - First full-term expires on October 31, 2025.
Seat Number 4: Colleen Jones - First full-term expires on October 31, 2025.
Seat Number 5: Andrew Horwitz - First full-term expires on October 31, 2026.
Seat Number 6: John Lopez - First full-term expires on October 31, 2026.
Seat Number 7: Stacey Oziel - First full-term expires on October 31, 2026.
Nominations for Chair
In the absence of a Chairperson, the Member with the most seniority announces that this is the time and place to receive nominations for Chair, calls for nominations, closes the nominations, and calls for the vote.
Recommended Motion: That the Fiesta La Ballona Committee select Committee Member ___________________as Chair of the Fiesta La Ballona Committee from November 2, 2022, to November 30, 2023.
New Chair Opens Nominations for Vice Chair
The new Chair then announces that this is the time and place to receive nominations for Vice Chair, calls for nominations, closes the nominations, and calls for the vote.
Recommended Motion: That the Fiesta La Ballona Committee select Committee Member ___________________as Vice Chair of the Fiesta La Ballona Committee from November 2, 2022, to November 30, 2023.
