RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve an amendment to an existing professional services on-call agreement with AZ Construction, doing business as (DBA) Ace Fence, in an amount not-to-exceed $150,000, through December 31, 2022 for fencing repair services.


BACKGROUND

The Public Works (PW) Department's Maintenance Operations Division and Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department's Parks Division have undergone substantial changes over the last year due to retirements and staff turnover. Concurrently, fencing service repair needs have increased and required outsourced repairs for areas once provided in-house by staff with institutional knowledge. This has resulted in increased expenditures requiring an amendment too large to be approved administratively, to the City's agreement with AZ Construction, Inc.





DISCUSSION

For the past several fiscal years, AZ Construction has provided on-call fencing repair maintenance services while keeping cost levels low and competitive. Due to specific and imminent project service needs, an additional $150,000 is being requested in amendment through December 31, 2022. A request for proposals (RFP) will be developed and issued for future needs.
