RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (1) discuss the report from the Civil Discourse Ad Hoc Subcommittee regarding the draft recommended civil discourse guidelines and determine next steps and (2) provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

During the February 18, 2022 regular meeting, the Civil Discourse Ad hoc Subcommittee achieved consensus to put this item on the March regular meeting agenda.

On December 4, 2022, the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee held a Civil Discourse Workshop for committee members, City Staff, and members of the public. The Workshop was facilitated by the Institute for Civility in Government (ICG). The purpose of the Workshop was to train participants in Civil Discourse and to create recommended civil discourse guidelines for the City of Culver City.
