RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC): (1) discuss the report from the Community Contributions Ad Hoc Subcommittee regarding the Community Contributions Award and Medallion and (2) provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

At the August 24, 2021 regular meeting, the Community Contributions Ad Hoc Subcommittee announced talking points that the EHRAC members can use while approaching Culver City residents, businesses, and non-profit organizations to solicit nominations for the Community Contributions award. The first round of nominations began in September, 2021 and closed in December, 2021.

During the January 10, 2022 City Council regular meeting, the Community Contributions Ad Hoc Subcommittee requested that the City Council approve the use of the City Seal on one side of the award medallion. The City Council voted to approve the use the City Seal. The Community Contributions Ad Hoc Subcommittee is now creating a rubric for rating each of the nominees submitted.
