BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) is presenting this special event to commemorate transgender lives lost during this past year. Members are encouraged to join this event to come together to remember, learn, and commit to ending discrimination and violence against transgender people.

The agenda for this special event is as follows:

I. Welcome and introduction of Committee member Michelle Dennis by Chair Rebecca Rona-Tuttle;
II. Welcome and overview of the event by Committee member Michelle Dennis;
III. Musical presentation by choir and/or student musicians of Culver City High School introduced by Vice Chair Carlos Valverde;
IV. Presentation by Committee member Michelle Dennis of the status of Transgender rights and incidents of discrimination and violence in the United States;
V. Student speaker from Culver City High School Tolerance Organization introduced by Vice Chair Carlos Valverde;
VI. Reading the names of Transgender people killed during the prior year and telling a bit of their story by volunteers from the public attending the virtual event and Culver City High School;
VII. Closing remarks by Chair Rebecca Rona-Tuttle and Committee member Michelle Dennis.
