RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Civil Service Commission (Commission) discuss and appoint one new Ad Hoc Subcommittee member to review certain Civil Service Rules (Rules).

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

At the Commission's June 2, 2021 regular meeting, the Commission determined to continue the review process of certain Civil Service Rules. The Commission appointed two members, Commissioners Gong and Greenspan, to serve on a Civil Service Rules Amendment Ad Hoc Subcommittee (Subcommittee) for the purpose of reviewing the current rules and presenting recommended revisions to the full Commission.

The Subcommittee has held multiple meetings, developed a project outline, discussed proposed revisions, and prepared Rule 3 revisions for the full Commissions consideration. Recently, Staff was notified by Commissioner Greenspan that he wishes to step down from the Subcommittee. The purpose of tonight's agenda item is to allow the Commission to discuss the request from Commissioner Greenspan, and if so desired, the Commission may nominate and appoint a new member to the Subcommittee.
