RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council 1) discuss a COVID-19 vaccination verification requirement for patrons and staff at Culver City food and drink, health and fitness, and personal care businesses, public facilities, and for City officials; and (2) provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.


BACKGROUND

Los Angeles County remains a global hub in the middle of the global COVID-19 pandemic. On October 6, 2021, Los Angeles County Public Health reported 964 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 35 new deaths. Hospitalizations county-wide due to COVID were 768 on that date. As of October 4, 2021, only 77.6% of Los Angeles County residents ages 12 and up have been fully vaccinated.
