RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve an amendment to the existing professional services agreement with Walker Consultants (Walker) to continue providing parking consulting services for an additional three-month period in an amount not to exceed $10,000.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The City relies on parking professionals to consult on a variety of parking operation matters.  Walker has been working with the City since 2016 and its agreement recently expired.  Staff is seeking a three-month extension to allow Walker to complete work that began prior to the agreement’s expiration.  The work relates to a structural investigation, the parking manager Request for Proposal, Ince parking office construction, and Demand Pricing/ Rate schedule to fund capital improvements to the Ince, Cardiff, and Watseka parking structures.

Staff has issued a Request for Quotes (RFQ) for parking consulting services and is awaiting responses.  Approval of the three-month agreement with Walker will also ensure parking consulting services remain available while the RFQ process is underway.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

Staff estimates the cost to complete Walker’s outstanding work and provide consulting service while the RFQ process is underway to be $10,000.   Sufficient funds are available in Account 10150120.610400 to fund Walker’s services.
