RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council appoint members to the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC).
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Jeanne Min resigned from the GPAC on May 20, 2021and Andrew Weissman resigned from the GPAC on June 7, 2021. Former Member Min was appointed by Former Council Member Jim Clarke and Former Member Weissman was appointed by Former Council Member Jeff Cooper.
Based on direction received at the March 3, 2021 City Council meeting regarding future vacancies, Council Member Vera recommended, and City Council appointed, David Voncannon at the June 13, 2021, meeting. At that meeting, City Council directed staff to bring back an item to discuss a consensus appointment to fill the last seat.
At the July 12, 2021, City Council meeting, Council considered Marla Koosed and Jeff Schwartz as candidates for the GPAC. The Council decided to push the appointment to a future meeting in the hopes of achieving a consensus vote, potentially adding a candidate to represent the Culver City Unified School District for consideration. On July 20, 2021, David Voncannon notified the City that he could not accept the appointment to the GPAC for unrelated reasons, leaving one additional seat still vacant, for a total of two vacant seats.
City Council Members may make recommendations and may choose to appoint up to two new Members for the two remaining GPAC meetings.
