RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity & Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC): (1) discuss the potential creation of an Ad Hoc “Educational Materials” Subcommittee; (2) (if desired) form an Ad Hoc Educational Materials Subcommittee; and (3) Appoint Committee Members thereto; and (3) Provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the May 25, 2021 EHRAC meeting, member Bano made a motion to agendize this item. On June 22, 2021, the EHRAC Chair noted that this action item was being continued over to the July 27, 2021 meeting.
If the EHRAC does vote in favor of forming this Ad Hoc Subcommittee, the purpose is to create educational materials for distribution to the public. The creation of these educational materials can assist those members of the public who may witness any type of hate crime or discrimination.
Once an ad hoc subcommittee is formed, members could brainstorm additional educational materials that could be distributed to the public as well. The Ad Hoc Subcommittee would determine additional priorities and learning materials that would benefit the community and the public.
