RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss and consider the Equity & Human Relations Advisory Committee's (EHRAC) recommendation to change its name; and (2) provide direction to City Manager as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On March 23, 2021, the EHRAC met and discussed changing the name of the EHRAC by removing the word "Advisory" or other possible name changes so the acronym is easier to pronounce and remember. Based on a motion, the EHRAC members approved to recommend to the City Council the removal of the word Advisory from the EHRAC name thereby changing the name to "Equity and Human Relations Committee."
The current name of the EHRAC is consistent with other committees to reflect their advisory nature, including the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, the Disability Advisory Committee, the Finance Advisory Committee, the General Plan Advisory Committee, and the (newly renamed) Advisory Committee on Housing and Homelessness.
