RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) receive updates on the City’s work as relates to supporting and promoting the Creative Economy, ask questions and provide comments as appropriate.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

Staff will provide a verbal update, focusing specifically on current virtual engagement with Creative Economy stakeholders. Members of the CAC’s Creative Economy Subcommittee (Vice Chair Dickter and Commissioner Pali) may also have additional input.

FISCAL IMPACT:

For FY 2021-2022, the City’s Economic Development staff will be organizing and implementing stakeholder events with input from Cultural Affairs.  This will minimize the impact on Cultural Affairs staff resources.  Four in-person stakeholder events are planned for FY 2021-2022 with an estimated cost of $3,500 per event.  Cultural Affairs will cover up to $14,000 for these in-person events over the next year from the Cultural Trust Fund (Fund 413, PZ959).

ATTACHMENTS:

MOTION:

That the Cultural Affairs Commission:

1.                     Receive updates from staff on efforts relating to the Creative Economy; and

2.                     Ask questions and provide input as appropriate.
