RECOMMENDATION

 

Staff recommends that the Equity & Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) discuss and share comments on the Hate Crimes Report and Community Conversation held on May 14, 2021; and (2) provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.

 

 

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

 

On May 14, 2021, the EHRAC held an informational virtual special event entitled ‘The Rise of Hate Crimes & Target Groups’, presented by Mr. Marshall Wong, the principal author of the Los Angeles Commission on Human Relations’ annual report on hate crimes.  At the May 25, 2021 regular meeting EHRAC members and the public will have the opportunity to express further thoughts on Mr. Wong’s presentation.
