RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity & Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) (1) discuss with the Ad Hoc City Council Policies Subcommittee the residency requirement; and (2) provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Ad Hoc City Council Policies Subcommittee, comprised of Council members Vera and McMorrin, want to discuss making a recommendation to City Council to eliminate the residency requirement for certain Commissions, Boards and Committees, namely the Committee on Homelessness (COH) and the EHRAC. To that end, Council members Vera and McMorrin want to discuss the residency requirement with the EHRAC before the Subcommittee makes its recommendations to Council. Currently, the City policy on Commissions, Boards and Committees (CBC) contain an eligibility provision that applicants must be residents of the City to qualify for membership on a CBC, unless specifically stated otherwise for that particular body.
