RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) receive a presentation on and discuss environmental justice and community health in Culver City.


BACKGROUND

Most recently, the GPAC has received presentations on, and discussed, Culver City's existing conditions, issues, and opportunities on General Plan Update (GPU) topics including:

* June 30 and September 17, 2020: Equity, community safety, and policing
* July 9, 2020: Socioeconomic/market conditions, creative economy, and arts and culture
* August 13, 2020: Housing
* August 13, September 10, and October 8, 2020: Land use and community design
* November 12, 2020: Transportation and mobility
* December 10, 2020: Sustainability and climate change
* February 11, 2021: Parks, recreation, and open spaces


DISCUSSION

This meeting will focus primarily on receiving direction from GPAC Members on refining the results of disadvantaged communities screening and identifying potential General Plan policies related to health and environmental justice.

Raimi + Associates, the lead consultant for the GPU, will present:

* Healthy Communities Framework and the requirements of Senate Bill 1000, the Planning for Healthy Communities Act, which has five topic areas related to environmental justice.
