RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee receive a presentation by staff regarding a new educational Traffic Safety Brochure, and that the Committee discuss and provide feedback about the brochure before a final version is produced.

BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION

The City’s Public Works Department received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety for the development of a Citywide Traffic Safety Education Program. The Program consists of a variety of initiatives customized for seniors, working adults and transients. The Program also expands the existing school safety program to additionally target driving-age high school students.

One of the planned Program tools is an educational Traffic Safety Brochure. The Brochure will be produced in English and Spanish and will be posted on the City’s web site. Additionally, it will be distributed at future workshops, special events, and traffic stops.
