RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission: (1) select the Chair and Vice Chair of the PRCS Commission; (2) appoint PRCS Commission Members to representative vacancies on City Committees; and, [if desired] (3) form of new Ad Hoc Subcommittee(s) and appoint of two Commission Members to newly-formed Ad Hoc Subcommittee(s).
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
(1) Selection of the Chair and Vice Chair of the PRCS Commission
Due to the December 2, 2020 resignation of former Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission Chair Paula Amezola, the office of Chair is currently vacant. Traditionally the Vice Chair becomes the Chair and the Member with the most seniority becomes the Vice Chair. However, selection of Chair and Vice Chair is at the discretion of the Commission Members.
1A - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR CHAIR
The current Vice Chair announces that this is the time and place to receive nominations for Chair, calls for nominations, closes the nominations, and calls for the motion.
Recommended Motion: That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission select Commission Member ___________________as Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2020/2021.
1B - NEW CHAIR OPENS NOMINATIONS FOR VICE CHAIR
The new Chair then announces that this is the time and place to receive nominations for Vice Chair, calls for nominations, closes the nominations, and calls for the motion.
Recommended Motion: That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission select Commission Member ________________ as Vice Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2020/2021.
(2) Appointment of PRCS Commission Members to City Committees
The vacancies due to the resignation of former Chair Amezola are as the Alternate to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee and as the Delegate to the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC). The List of Commission appointments has been updated to note these vacancies (Attachment 1).
2A - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO FILL VACANCIES ON CITY COMMITTEES
Recommended Motion: That the PRCS Commission appoints ________________ as Delegate/Alternate to the ___________________________ City Committee.
(3) Formation of New Ad Hoc Subcommittee(s) and Appointment of Two Commissioners to Newly-Formed Ad Hoc Subcommittee(s)
Recommended Motion: Form new Ad Hoc Subcommittees(s) __________________and Appoint Commissioner ____________________ and Commissioner ____________________ to the newly formed Ad Hoc Subcommittee(s).
