RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the General Plan Advisory Committee receive a presentation on and discuss land use and growth alternatives in Culver City.

BACKGROUND

A regular meeting of the GPAC was held August 13, 2020, focused on urban design and housing as part of the General Plan Update (GPU).

DISCUSSION

Perkins and will, the urban design subconsultant for the GPU, will provide two framing presentations on approaches to land use change and areas of change. The presentations are intended to spark an interactive discussion with the GPAC on how and where Culver City might generally accommodate growth.

Unlike previous GPAC meetings which included longer existing conditions presentations, most of the meeting will be spent in GPAC discussion. Therefore, it would be helpful to spend some additional time preparing for this meeting by thinking about the following questions:

* What neighborhoods with multi-unit buildings (duplex, triplex, apartments, etc.) do you like?
* What types of amenities do you miss from your current residential neighborhood?
* Aside from single-family homes, what kinds of homes could you see yourself living in?
* What housing types are lacking the most currently in Culver City?

Please refer to Attachment 1 for further information.
