RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution reciting the facts, declaring the results and approving the ordinance that was passed, approved and adopted by the people of the City of Culver City at the Special Municipal Election held on March 3, 2020 per California Elections Code Section 10263.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
ELECTION RESULTS
A Special Municipal Consolidated Election was held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, which included one (1) Culver City ballot measure comprised of one Ordinance (called Measure CC). The results of the Election are as follows:
Measure CC: CONTINUATION OF CITY SERVICES TRANSACTIONS AND USE TAX. Shall the measure to maintain 911 emergency response services by retaining firefighters/ police officers/ paramedics; addressing homelessness; fixing potholes/streets; maintaining storm drains, parks, after-school programs, senior services, and other general fund services, by continuing the voter approved one-half cent sales tax, generating approximately 9.8 million dollars annually, until March 31, 2033, requiring independent annual audits, all funds used locally, with no tax rate increase, be adopted?
Yes: 10,863 76.93%
No: 3,257 23.07%
The Los Angeles County’s Registrar Recorder/County Clerk certified the results on March 27, 2020.
The election returns provided by the Los Angeles County’s Registrar Recorder/County Clerk certify passage of the Ordinance by a majority of the voters casting votes in the election and “shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by a majority vote of the qualified electors of the City voting in an election on the subject.
The Ordinance, which includes the full text of Measure C, is included for reference as an attachment to the resolution, and will be signed by Mayor Sahli-Wells and sent for codification by the City Clerk.
The City Attorney, in conjunction with the City Clerk, prepared the resolution declaring the results for the City of Culver City and declaring other matters as are provided by the Charter of the City of Culver City.
