RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) provide input on the identified crash profiles, countermeasures, selection of mobility corridors, and outline of the Vision Zero Policy for the Bicycle & Pedestrian Action Plan (BPAP) Vision Zero component.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The City has begun the process of developing a citywide Bicycle & Pedestrian Action Plan. The scope of work for this plan was presented to the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) in July. As previously discussed, the Action Plan also includes a Vision Zero component in order to implement the City Council's strategic goal of improving traffic safety.
On November 16, 2018 Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) supported the adoption of Vision Zero in Culver City, with a goal of eliminating fatal and severe injury collisions by 2028.
In working towards this goal, our consultants Fehr and Peers analyzed the collision profiles and patters in Culver City, identifies three mobility corridors and drafted a list of countermeasures for the various crash profiles.
