RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution of Intention to vacate a portion of the alley located easterly of Colonial Avenue, northerly of Washington Boulevard, westerly of Centinela Avenue and southerly of Washington Place, as part of the Market Hall Project located at 12403-12423 Washington Boulevard and setting a Public Hearing date of November 12, 2018, pursuant to Division 9, Part 3, Chapter 3 of the Streets and Highway Code.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On February 2, 2018, the City Council adopted a resolution which approved the Comprehensive Plan, General Plan Amendment, and Zoning Code Map Amendment for the project at 12337-12423 Washington Boulevard, also known as Market Hall. The project consists of a multi-site commercial development comprised of 31,782 square feet of commercial (artisanal food retail/restaurant) and a three-and-a-half level parking structure. The project also involves vacating the existing public alley which currently runs through the project site and connects to Colonial Avenue. A new alley will be constructed and will connect to Centinela Avenue.
In compliance with State of California Streets and Highways Code Division 9, Part 3, Chapter 3: (1) the Resolution of Intention shall be published in the newspaper for at least two successive weeks; and (2) at least two weeks prior to the date of the public hearing, a minimum of three notices of the adoption of the Resolution of Intention will be posted conspicuously along the area proposed for vacation not more than 300 feet apart.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
The cost to publish the notice of the public hearing for two successive weeks in Culver City News is about $600 which will be paid from account number 10160150.612100, Engineering Services.
