RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) consider the information provided, approve the CCCAF FY 2018-2019 Work Plan for Cultural Affairs, and consider the timing of future updates from the CCCAF on its events and activities.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Section 6-A of the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Culver City and the CCCAF, dated April 5, 2018, Section states:
CCCAF shall provide a written plan of activities (the "Plan") no later than thirty (30) days following the commencement of the fiscal year (July 1). The Plan shall include a general outline of the CCCAF to assist in fundraising to carry out the goals of the Cultural Affairs Work Plan. The Plan shall also outline a per project budget for any planned fundraising activities.
The CCCAF transmitted a letter, dated July 23, 2018, outlining three programs/projects as included in the City Council adopted FY 2018-2019 Cultural Affairs Budget / Work Plan: Artist Laureate Program; Performing Arts Grant Program; and, Veterans Memorial Auditorium Enhancements. For each of these programs/projects, the CCCAF has provided information on how it intends to provide support. The CCCAF Board worked with City staff on identifying these priority areas for FY 2018-2019.
At the August 14, 2018 CCCAF Board meeting, there was consensus among Board Members and City Staff that the CCCAF Work Plan come before the CAC at the September meeting for review and approval. It was also agreed at the CCCAF August Board meeting, that starting in 2019, the CCCAF would provide the CAC with oral and written updates on its events and activities at the January, April, July and October CAC meetings. A minimum of quarterly reports to the CAC is required per Exhibit A of the MOU; additional items pertaining to the CCCAF will be included on future CAC meeting agendas on an as-needed basis.
CCCAF Board members will be at the CAC meeting to present their work plan and a hard copy will be provided at that time.
