RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Civil Service Commission review the scheduled dates and direct staff as necessary.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the May 2, 2018 regular Civil Service Commission (Commission) meeting, the Commission unanimously agreed to hear a closed disciplinary appeal hearing and directed staff to schedule a pre-hearing conference as outlined in Civil Service Rule 11. Due to the limited availability of the parties, the Commission requested that staff also schedule hearing dates after the pre-hearing conference was confirmed.
The pre-hearing conference is scheduled and confirmed for Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 6:30 pm. At this time, there is a quorum of the Commission to move forward with the closed disciplinary appeal hearing on the following dates:
Monday, July 23, 2018,
Wednesday, July 25, 2018,
Monday, August 6, 2018,
Monday, August 13, 2018, and
Monday, August 27, 2018.
Counsel for both parties have indicated they are available on all dates. The Commission should determine the best time of day to start the hearing for each of these dates.
