RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss amendments to Culver City Municipal Code (CCMC) ?9.04.015 -- Prohibited Public Nuisance Conditions on Real Property to prohibit the use of leaf blowers with noise levels exceeding 65 decibels; and (2) provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Currently, CCMC Section ?9.04.015 -- Prohibited Public Nuisance Conditions on Real Property (Code) requires leaf blower operators to obtain a permit prior to their use. The permit requires:
1. Leaf blower operation to be limited to the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
2. Each leaf blower be equipped with a muffler and nozzle extender.
