RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission (PRCSC) discuss the powers and duties of the PRCSC as provided for in accordance with the Culver City Municipal Code.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

In 2009 and 2010, the PRCSC held multiple discussions on the topic, "Recommendations for Future Discussions Regarding the Duties and Responsibilities of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission." During this time, the City Manager's Office, at the direction of the City Council, was researching and developing updated descriptions of the powers and duties of the four Culver City Commissions. These updated descriptions were adopted by the City Council in 2011.

At the March 7, 2017 City Council / PRCSC Joint Meeting, there was an open dialogue between the two bodies regarding topics related to the PRCSC's Powers and Duties. At that meeting, there was consensus among the members of the PRCSC that they would like to discuss this topic further at their next meeting. The purpose of this agenda item is to convene a discussion regarding the Powers and Duties of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission as provided for in accordance with the Culver City Municipal Code....
