RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council consider endorsing Council Member Thomas Small's nomination to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (LA Metro's) newly formed Sustainability Council (Sustainability Council), as the small cities' representative and authorize Mayor Jim B. Clarke to provide his signature on the nomination form, reflecting the City Council's endorsement.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On February 14, 2017, Council Member Small had a conversation with an LA Metro staff person regarding the application process to become appointed to one of the 30 LA Metro Sustainability Council positions. Specifically, if appointed, Council Member Small would serve as the representative for smaller cities/other jurisdictions. At the March 20, 2017 City Council Meeting, Council Member Small indicated that he was interested in being considered for the appointment to the LA Metro Sustainability Council.
