RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution approving the temporary closing of portions of Washington Boulevard, Washington Place and Centinela Avenue in connection with the CicLAvia Culver City Meets Venice event (CicLAvia 2017), a City sponsored event, to be held on March 26, 2017 and adopting related rules and regulations.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On May 9, 2016 the City Council adopted Resolution 2016-R034 which approved a joint application with the City of Los Angeles and CicLAvia for grant funds through Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (Metro) Open Streets Program for the City's second CicLAvia event, to be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017. On September 23, 2016 the City received notification from Metro that the joint application was approved.
On January 25, 2017 the Committee on Permit and Licenses (Committee) approved an event permit application submitted by CicLAvia for CicLAvia 2017. The approved permit contains a condition that its approval is subject to the City Council's approval of the street closures related to CicLAvia 2017.
