RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) provide feedback to staff on the proposed scope of the Culver City Walk & Rollers program and adopt a motion to:
1. Support continuing the Culver City Walk & Rollers beyond the expiration of its grant funding, and
2. Recommend that the City Council allocate $40,000 per year for the program beginning in Fiscal Year 2017/18.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

See attached memo to the City-CCUSD Liaison Committee describing the background and current proposal to continue the Culver City Walk & Rollers program with sustained funding from both the City and CCUSD.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

The proposed budget to continue the Culver City Walk & Rollers program is $70,000 per year, split between the City and CCUSD. The proposed $40,000 annual contribution by the City could come from one or more of the following funding sources, as determined during the annual budget process: General Fund, Measure R Local Return, Measure M Local Return, and/or TDA Article 3. This expenditure could reduce the amount of funding available for other bicycle and pedestrian projects and programs.
