RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution approving an Encroachment Agreement with Time Warner for use of Culver City public right-of-way to install fiber optic cable in the area surrounding 3652 Eastham Drive.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Time Warner is proposing to install a new fiber optic pathway for their private customer at 3652 Eastham Drive.

The work involves tying into the existing utility pole on Eastham Drive, then heading north for 3 feet and tying into a proposed vault, then turning west for 8 feet, south for 110 feet, then east for 9 feet into the applicant's private property. All work will be under ground and installed by directional boring.

The total distance of the new installation in the public right-of-way is 130 linear feet. There are no new utility poles proposed along the route.

Legal Framework

Time Warner is the holder of a Certificate of a statewide video franchise issued by the California Public Utilities Commission.
