RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss the creation of a City Council liaison committee between the City and West Los Angeles College; (2) if created, appoint two Council Members thereto; and (3) direct the City Manager as deemed appropriate.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

At the July 11, 2016 City Council Meeting, "Council Member Eriksson received City Council consensus to agendize consideration of a liaison committee between the City and West Los Angeles College." The City Council is requested to discuss this item and provide direction to the City Manager as appropriate. If the Council determines to create this liaison committee, staff recommends it appoint two of its Members to serve on the committee.

As this committee would consist of both City Council Members and West Los Angeles College representatives, it would constitute a legislative body and be subject to the Brown Act.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

There is no fiscal impact for the City Council to discuss this item. However, if a liaison committee is established, there may be potential costs for City staff time.
