RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve an agreement with AM/PM Door, Inc. in the amount of $34,270 for repair of vehicle service bay door operators at the Transportation Facility.


BACKGROUND

The Transportation Facility supports activities of the Culver City Transportation Department, Culver City Municipal Bus Lines (Culver CityBus), the Equipment Maintenance & Fleet Services Division, and the City's Purchasing Division. The facility includes a maintenance building with eight bays, a weld shop, and a mezzanine level with a parts storage shop. There are nine automated bay doors within the facility. These doors have been well maintained, however the motorized operators that control these doors have reached the ends of their useful lives and are due for replacement.


DISCUSSION

Transportation Department staff obtained three competitive quotes for the necessary repairs and upgrades. Of the responses received, AM/PM Door, Inc. offered the lowest price and most comprehensive proposal. All of the costs for the repairs/maintenance are at the prevailing wage rate.
