RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) award a construction contract to CJ Concrete Construction, Inc. as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, in the amount of $613,242.00 for the Annual Sidewalk, Curb, and Driveway Approach Improvement Project, PZ-428 (Project); and (2) authorize the Public Works Director to approve change orders to the contract in an amount not-to-exceed $153,310.50 (25%).
BACKGROUND
The City receives requests from the public regarding broken and uplifted concrete sidewalks, curb ramps, driveway approaches, and street sections. Public Works staff compiles resident requests and investigates them to assess the damage and potential hazard to pedestrians. In addition to the ongoing replacements of the aforementioned infrastructure completed by Public Works Maintenance and Operations Staff, the Engineering Division regularly manages projects that can address many locations at once, prioritizing locations based on factors such as damage severity, and budget constraints.
