RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve amendments to the existing professional services agreements with Barry Kurtz, T.E. and John Fisher, P.E., T.E., in an additional aggregate amount not-to-exceed $51,000, to provide part-time support to the traffic engineering section of the Public Works Department.
BACKGROUND
Based on the workload of the Traffic Engineering section, staff has utilized consultants to oversee traffic issues related to development and regional projects, supporting traffic signal maintenance staff on system operations, while freeing up the Traffic Engineering Analyst to focus on local neighborhood traffic concerns. This has been determined to be the best solution to address increased workloads. Otherwise, the workload will be too burdensome for one person and the ability of the Traffic Engineering section to be responsive to neighborhood concerns and Community Development Department requests would be severely diminished.
