A Commendation to the Fox Hills Neighborhood Association regarding Fox Hills Park Pride Day.

COMMENDATION
FOX HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, the Fox Hills Neighborhood Association was established in
1972 and is a dues free organization serving residents, owners and business
entities located within the geographical area commonly known as Fox Hills; and
WHEREAS, Fox Hills Park Pride Day was established as a way for the
local community to improve the neighborhood park as a beautification project that
brings together local residents of all ages and corporate sponsors to make the
park more enjoyable and visually stimulating for passersby and park goers; and
WHEREAS, the first annual Fox Hills Park Pride Day took place on
October 21, 2006 with a donation of $250 from Westfield Corporation and 30
volunteers who re-planted eroded areas on the Park’s hillside along Buckingham
Parkway; and
WHEREAS, on October 20, 2007, the Fox Hills Neighborhood Association
held its second annual event with approximately 50 volunteers with donations to
the project totaling $6,500 from generous sponsors including $3,000 from
Westfield Corporation and $3,000 from Home Depot and a $500 Culver City
Council sponsored Park Enhancement Program (PEP) Grant; and
WHEREAS, at this year’s Fox Hills Park Pride Day volunteers planted 80
lantana plants and re-painted wooden tables/benches and metal railings and was
able to purchase 4 new concrete picnic tables and 2 new BBQs (to be installed
by the Culver City Parks crew); and
WHEREAS, this year’s event was again a huge success and the Fox Hills
Neighborhood Association looks forward to continuing this annual event next
year!
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City
of Culver City hereby thanks and commends the Fox Hills Neighborhood
Association for their continuing efforts in enhancing the quality of life of the
Culver City community.
