RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution authorizing the sale of 20 surplus Motorola APX 1000 Two-Way Radios to the City of Glendora, California, at a price of $350 per radio, for a total sale amount of $7,000 and authorizing the future sale of additional surplus radios to the City of Glendora at the same or better price.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

In 2015, the City purchased 107 Motorola APX 1000 Two-Way Radios to support various departments, including fire, police, emergency and public works services. The radios have served as a key communication tool among City departments. After 10 years of service, the radios were recently replaced with newer models.

Following the installation of the new equipment, staff contacted nearby agency cities that operate on the same radio system to gauge their interest in purchasing the City's used APX 1000s. The City of Glendora expressed interest in purchasing 20 of the APX 1000 radios for its police department, which operates on the same frequency. They have offered to purchase the radios at $350 per unit, totaling $7,000.
