Commission and Council discussion included: concerns with doing the event and Fiesta La Ballona at the same time; postponing the item until there is a staff report that provides a recommendation and includes how other cities handle similar issues; concerns that Mr. Silverstein was not present at the meeting; whether a fee would be charged to get into the event; the need for public notification; creating a policy regarding commercial events; and the fact that staff is already overburdened. Moved by Commission Cooper to deny the request. The discussion continued. Commissioners agreed that the request should be denied but differed on the reason for the denial.
